I see individual adults, ages 18 and up. I enjoy working with with clients from various backgrounds, and have experience working with people who have cultural, racial, and spiritual experiences different from my own. I work to provide a safe space for all of my clients. I don't provide couples counseling or family therapy, but occasionally welcome a client's partner or family member into session to help them understand how to best support their loved one while they're in counseling, if the client so chooses.
Yes, I can provide online therapy. I use a secure, HIPAA-compliant therapy platform called Simple Practice. Some of my clients do all of their therapy through telehealth, some do none, and others prefer a combination.
My practice is located inside the Hillside Building, a small, unassuming office building in midtown Little Rock. This location checks a lot of critical boxes for the therapy practice, particularly related to privacy. Parking is located in the back of the building but some clients prefer to park in a nearby parking lot and enter through the front of the building. You're welcome to arrive up to 15 minutes early to relax in my private waiting room. Feel free to enjoy time in the meditation nook and/or have a cup of herbal tea before your appointment.
My waiting room is private and is for my clients only. Appointments are scheduled in such a way that it's unlikely you would ever see another client in my suite. The waiting room is designed to be a calming space. You're welcome to arrive up to 15 minutes early to relax in the meditation nook and/or enjoy a cup of herbal tea before your appointment.
The first step is to request a free 15- to 20-minute phone or video consultation with me. This enables me to answer any questions you may have and to see if my practice is a good fit for you. During this call, you'll get a bit of a sense of what it's like to work with me. I've found this to be the best way to begin the therapeutic relationship. To request your free consultation, call (501) 441-4200 or fill out my contact page.
Weekly individual therapy sessions are typically 55 minutes long. Longer weekly sessions may be available when agreed upon in advance. Therapy Intensive sessions are scheduled for 4 to 8 hours. This includes time for breaks.
In September of 2024, due to insurance practices I personally and professionally find unethical, I made the agonzing decision to no be longer contracted with insurance. I also lowered my session fees by 25% to better accommodate my clients, in light of this change. I keep a few of reduced fee and probono spots in my caseload as well. Those spots are often full, but not always. Many of my clients actually prefer to work with me privately and not involve their insurance at all. This is because in order to use insurance for therapy, a mental health diagnosis is required, which gets attached to your record. Insurance can also audit, requesting your private clinical notes to review the work you're doing in therapy. I believe your therapy and what you share in session are private matters. Not taking insurance allows us the freedom to determine what your therapy looks like, how long we meet, and what we can work on during your visits. It also gives me the ability to provide you with the highest level of confidentiality.
I do not communicate with insurance companies, however, if you choose to involve your insurance, I can provide you a detailed receipt which you can submit to your insurance plan for possible reimbursement of a portion of your therapy fees. For example, a plan may reimburse 50% of session fees for an out-of-network provider instead of 80% for in-network services. A deductible may apply, depending on your particular plan. Many insurance plans provide out-of-network benefits. If you choose to go this route, I recommend contacting your insurance company to see what out-of-network benefits you may have for therapy. I'd be happy to answer your questions about the process.
For weekly appointments, I charge a $75 late cancellation fee for appointments cancelled with less than 24-hours notice, unless they are cancelled the same day as the appointment. For "same-day" cancellations or no-shows, I charge the full appointment fee unless they are due to a medical emergency.
The length of your therapy will depend on several factors (your specific concerns, goals for treatment, appointment frequency, etc.). I use proven therapies, which are time-limited, so you can move forward in your life with greater balance and emotional well-being.
Yes! I'm a welcoming and affirming therapist. My commitment is to provide a space where you don’t have to defend who you are, even if you're still figuring it out or your experiences are fluid. My approach is to hear you, support you, and help you figure out what you need to grow and thrive.
Yes, I've had the pleasure of working with Autistic adults over the years, witnessing their journey to self-understanding and empowerment. I'm currently in the process of attaining Certified ASD Clinical Specialist status to better understand the needs, gifts, and common experiences of Autistic adults.
